Preflight

The purpose of preflight is similar to the aviation preflight term. The general idea is to go through everything and make sure it is working properly. Therefore preflight is used to check your document and see if all the files work, or if there are missing fonts or files, or if something needs to be updated. This process helps the creator not make any mistakes when sending off their document (http://www.printernational.org/preflight-check-in-indesign.php). This next site is an example of a preflight checklist I found online: http://www.doit.wisc.edu/printing/pdf_samples/preflightchecklist.pdf
I also found a job description of a Preflight Specialist at this site: http://www.corporatebrokers.com/careerboard_details.asp?JobID=993  The salary range for a Preflight Specialist varies greatly depending on the company and area of business. However the average salary that I found was around $45,000. I found this salary information at: http://www.simplyhired.com/a/salary/search/q-graphics+preflight+specialist.
